Leningrad Cowboys make a comeback – with Harlem Angels as the new backing choir!

The legendary Leningrad Cowboys are making a comeback and will tour Finland after a twelve-year hiatus. However, Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine has led to changes in the band's name and the lineup of their major concerts, with the band's new name being LC Cowboys and the Harlem Angels as the backing choir.

Leningrad Cowboys were founded in 1987 and rose to Finnish music history with their performances with the Red Army Choir in the early 1990s. Before going on hiatus in 2013, Leningrad Cowboys performed in over sixty countries with numerous concerts.

LC COWBOYS

It's been 12 years since the Finnish band with the huge hairstyles and long shoes last performed, and those of you who have seen them live know that this is one of the world's absolute best and craziest live bands of all time. NO ONE leaves a gig with Leningrad Cowboys without a big smile on their face. 32 years ago, the band played the legendary gig at Senate Square in Helsinki in front of 70,000 spectators. The Red Army Choir was there then. Of course, they won't be doing that now, when singer Sakke Järvenpää is digging up the band and coming to Time To Rock this summer. For the arena gigs in Finland in the fall of 2025, the band has however chosen to change its name to LC Cowboys due to the Russian offensive war in Ukraine.

Sakke Järvenpää had actually planned an anniversary tour, 30 years after that concert, in 2023, together with a Russian choir, but the Russian offensive war put an end to that plan. The autumn arena tour with five shows in Finland begins on November 15.

The original band with the classic hairstyles was founded in 1987, and became world famous six years later when they went on a world tour together with the hundred-strong Red Army Choir.

This summer, this legendary band will come to us at the Time To Rock Festival for their only gig in Sweden. This makes our festival general, Andreas Martinsson extra happy, as it is his biggest dream to see them on stage in Knislinge. He is ridiculously happy, we can say!

In addition to the permanent singer, Sakke Järvenpää, today's Leningrad Cowboys consist of, among others, Pauli Hauta-Aho, Ville Tuomi, Anna Sainila, Hanna Moisala and Varre Vartiainen. So this summer you will hear classic "Those Were the Days" echoing over Knislinge. Magically!
